CMD (craniomandibular dysfunction)

- CMD treatment
CMD (craniomandibular dysfunction)- when malposition of the jawbone
causes migraine, dizziness or tinnitus.
Healthy and beautiful teeth – to most people – are as important as a well-shaped body. The spectrum of techniques practised in the Musenhof Clinic for Aesthetic Dental Surgery ranges from aesthetic dentistry, oral surgery, 3D-dental implantology, periodontology and prosthodontics at thehighest medical standards. An internationally renowned specialized laboratory is able to provide us with works of highest precision.
Recently our clinic also offers the diagnosis and therapy of the craniomandibular dysfunction syndrome (CMD syndrome) which is done by a recognised specialist.
CMD? You`ve never heard of it?
We bet you have not. But maybe you know the symptoms like there are migraine, tinnitus dizziness and sometimes intense pain in the cervical vertebrae area? All of these symptoms can be caused by your jawbone or teeth.
The so-called CMD syndrome (craniomandibular dysfunction syndrome) has its origin in a malposition of the upper to the lower jaw (mandible).
An unfavourable, crooked position of the teeth gives rise to the malposition of the jaws. This may cause the mandibular joints to be pushed to the back of the socket too far which induces pressure on an area supplied by many nerves. Thus a marked increase of pain symptoms can be observed in many cases.
Sometimes this is also due to poorly produced prostheses. If a bridge, an inlay or a dental crown are too high and cause disturbances when clenching one’s teeth, nocturnal bruxism is the consequence and may bring about painful tension of the masticatory muscles or pain in the neck.
Many people suffer from these pains their whole life and take on the burden of difficult and often inefficient operations. But, that’s not really necessary!

In the Musenhof Clinic for Aesthetic Dental Surgery a world first high-tech equipment is used for measuring the whole static, bones and joints of the patient.
Our Clinic is the first in the world to officially use the 3 D-implantology technique via "Bluefox". With the help of special cameras and a 3-dimensional computer simulation, the position of the jawbone is being measured with a precision of 1/1000 mm.
This new technique applied in the Musenhof Clinics requires great experience and skills. As a next step, individual therapy proposals are tailored to the patients’ needs, are planned and performed.
This therapy aims at correcting a faulty position of each individual tooth or a malposition of the jaw joint and at loosening tension in the masticatory muscles. We are using methods which are free of pain for the patients and have been exclusively developed in the Musenhof Clinics.
If the causing factor for a CMD is a faulty denture, restoration or a new treatment of the respective teeth must be performed as soon as the patient is without pain. In slight cases, correction may be achieved by grinding.
Applying these new and modern techniques, we have been able to help many patients with permanent and tormenting pain or have saved pain patients from major invasive interventions.
